My story bygone 2020 in 3 words - LUB LUB LUB

These are the favorite words for Ishu, my 2 year naughty boy. Every day, several times he smears the omnipresent sanitizer and rubs his little hands with glee.

It is what we all have done for most part of last year.

I am sure all of us have all kinds of vivid stories to share for the year gone.

Today as we start a new year I wish you new hopes, new dreams & new narratives.

We are the sum of our stories. We are the sum of the stories we know, the stories we tell & the stories that tell us.

“Once upon a time” & “They lived happily ever after” are the phrases we find most delicious.

They move us to a place, into our Grandmothers lap , excited and eager .

From the magical world of Aladdin, to the pious stories of Lord Ganesha, from wit of Panchatantra to wisdom of Aesop's fables, from college dorms to board room’s - stories engage us, enthrall us & soothe us.

From a baby to a businessman, from a student to a professor, from a homemaker to a CEO - who does not relish a good story?

Some stories move us, some mold us and some motivate us.

Not all stories are positive .There are some stories that shrivel us, shrink us and leave us sad for days

I feel, The most important stories are the stories in our head,

our internal stories - the ones we tell ourselves; which even determines our individual life script and to a large extent how 2021 is going to be for us.

Are we not like a collage of memories?

A whiff of lingering impressions and a rainbow of deep experiences. It’s like, we store ourselves in neatly packed brown boxes on shelves in the form of narratives. Narratives that are embedded in us as our very own truths

Our stories change as we grow up. Some saunter back to teach us; the right thing to do in confusing times. Some stories give us a reason to get out of bed on a difficult day.

How did I reach where I am?

What all happened to me?

Where am I today?

All these questions can be better understood by our stories

The “Stories that shape us” is a podcast journey to unravel this theme.

We will engage with unique, interesting & successful people and learn about their personal stories which made them, who they are today?

We will decode how their thinking got shaped? We will discover - What moved them? And why they do, what they do?

We will connect our stories to theirs.

I welcome you to join me in season one – where we explore basics like - what is a story? What story mean to us? And why stories work?

Come … engage with “stories that shape-Us”.

Podcast launching soon…

Stories drive us. Some stories are from outside, and often it is the story in our head that shapes us. Sometimes we are aware of the story that we tell ourselves, and sometimes we don't even know. Stories become script, and it takes courage to rewrite them. Will look forward to it Ajay Kovelakonda
