LTE-based Solutions at Massive Scale
As more and more devices use the wireless spectrum as a vital feature of product performance – and a finite resource – significant attention to reliable connectivity is essential. Wireless operation for in-building devices, public spaces, and industrial IOT is often critical for consistency and long-term use. OnGo certification is an option, beyond the mandatory FCC (Federal Communications Commission) approval, that allows customization and uncompromised connectivity for CBRS equipment manufacturers. CBRS stands for Citizens Broadband Radio Service. The FCC established CBRS for shared wireless broadband use of the 3550- 3700 MHz band, often referred to as the 3.5 GHz band.
OnGo is a certification, similar to Bluetooth or PTCRB. With this certification, the manufacturer can use the OnGo logo in their advertising, acting as an indication that their equipment is compatible with the CBRS network requirements.
The CBRS Alliance developed a set of detailed specifications in support of the OnGo certification program. The certification program requires specific testing to ensure seamless interoperability for all network components. Testing to the OnGo specifications will ensure all OnGo-Certified Devices reflect the performance and interoperability as promised to customers.
More than 80 member companies make up the CBRS Alliance, including founding companies Google, Qualcomm, Ruckus Networks, Intel, Federated Wireless, and Ericsson Inc. as well as the nation’s largest mobile carriers. These well-known influencers of IT development have collaborated to evangelize LTE-based OnGo technology, use cases, and business opportunities as demonstrated in the various articles found at the CBRS Alliance website.
As more and more companies have come to rely on the OnGo approval for topnotch performance and unique marketability, Nemko strives to make this approval seamless. Nemko operates three Authorized Test Labs for OnGo certification, more than any other Agency, with one located in the US and two in Canada.
