“It's an insane world but in it there is one sanity, the loyalty of old friends.” – Ben Hur.
The loyalty of an old friend is an uncommon foundation for living an effective life. Old friends make it possible for us to persevere in life when all others are gone.
“A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.” (Walter Winchell). The catalyst for the loyalty of old friends is knowledge. The loyalty of old friends is premised on these three basis.
1) HINDSIGHT:
Old friends' knowledge of our past fosters their commitment to us. When our essence wasn't yet revealed, our old friends saw greatness in us and believed us anyway.
Instead of abandoning us in our mess, old friends often stay with us to become our best. They are loyal to us.
2) INSIGHT:
Real old friends, sometimes, know us better than we know ourselves. They can just look at us and tell exactly what's wrong with us. "A true friend is someone who sees the pain in your eyes while everyone else believes the smile on your face." (Unknown).
"When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up." (Psalm 27:10). The greatest loyal old friend all of us have is God. Even when our parents forsake us, He still takes care of us.

3) FORESIGHT:
Old friends' knowledge of our great future solidifies their allegiance towards us. "A faithful true friend is better than everything in this life." (Rev. Eastwood Anaba).
Don't neglect being an old friend in whose loyalty your friends could trust. You know so much about your friends. Be a loyal friend to them.
