Low/No-Code: The Future of Enterprise Apps
In an article last year, we covered the difference between custom and off-the-shelf software, with an emphasis on how costly and time-consuming custom software can be.
Well, we’re adding a third option to that debate: low/no-code applications. While low-code and no-code aren’t new to the game, they’re emerging as an evolved tool for businesses.
Imagine this. You work for an organization that has the essential Microsoft productivity, security, and collaboration tools deployed on all devices. Your business processes, however, could benefit from unique apps designed specifically for your needs.
This business is not a tech company – you don’t have an army of developers to design these apps for you. So, what does your team do?
They build custom apps, with little to no coding knowledge, through Microsoft’s low-code tool Power Apps.

The Future of Enterprise Apps
According to Microsoft, 86% of businesses struggle to find developers to build custom apps. Low/no-code development platforms are filling in this gap. Low-code is estimated to make up 65% of all app development by 2023.
Here’s a unique example of how someone with little or no coding experience could build an app. Lobe.ai allows users to train its vision detection system to recognize types of objects. Sean Cusack, a Microsoft software engineer and beekeeper, used sample photos to train Lobe.ai to recognize bees and unwanted insects entering his bee hives.
Granted, as a software engineer, Cusack would have extensive knowledge of building apps. But he didn’t need any of it to build his simple detection system.
Power Apps by Microsoft is a powerful low-code app building tool that can be applied to enterprises of all sizes. The low-code platform connects to a multitude of data sources, from Adobe to MailChimp, and allows you to build your own.
Power Apps is available under Microsoft 365 and Azure subscriptions as a per user, per app, or pay-as-you-go plan.?Learn more about Power Apps under Microsoft subscriptions from one of our experts.?
