Unlocking the Next Level of Logistics Through Innovation
Precision, Efficiency, and Execution: Three words that can define the strength of your business in the logistics and supply chain industry. As global challenges grow more complex, juggling these three things can feel more and more like a hurdle race where you're literally hoping and wishing that rolling under the hurdles could win the race. The race is a metaphor cost savings and customer satisfaction in logistics.
While rolling under the hurdles may seem like a great alternative(especially if you can't jump), there is still a certain level of planning that must be done, and considerations to be made. For instance, protective gear, uniform, and the speed of which one would need to roll to keep momentum going in order to come out ahead. As you read through this, I am hoping you came to the same conclusion: rolling won't win the race, and just because it works in theory doesn't guarantee the solution will win in execution.
I do truly believe that this is one of the greatest reasons the our industry is slow to evolve. Many supply chain and logistics professionals are no strangers to the businesses they service. Industry pros know what works, and if it's not broken then why fix it? To that I say, just because something isn't broken, doesn't mean it should remain the same for years and years to come.
As seasoned professionals retire, the industry has no choice but to usher in new talent. Regardless of age, and generation our industry is seeing new faces at varying experience levels. One of the biggest challenges is that the new professionals are being ushered in with the teachings of old process, and in many cases, lack of mentorship. The outdated process, technology, and mindset won't will not help this new wave of talent, nor will it lead to career satisfaction down the line.
Creativity is emerging as the missing ingredient needed to drive the next wave of industry evolution. Creativity is taking its place under spotlight because now more than ever:
