The lowdown on the Universities Accord 2024 report (and how to modernise digital learning)
In the Universities Accord 2024 report, the Australian Department for Education summed up a series of changes and innovations they want universities to make. From teaching students the skills that our economy needs for the long term, to narrowing socio-economic divides; universities, as they’ve always had to do, need to adapt fast to keep up with the pace of the world. Easier said than done, right??
So how are they asking Australian universities to change their offerings? We can divide the recommendations roughly into three parts:
At Stackle, we’re of course pleased to see this focus on digital learning. We know that when learning technology is easy to use, empowers educators to teach effectively (and at scale), and engages learners, that, simply put, more and better quality learning happens. When students are given the tools to learn at their best, we can see better results from a wider selection of students.
If you’re unsure what a “modernised” digital learning experience looks like, here are three things that your LMS can help you do:?

1. Engage learners.
Build in pedagogical tools like reflection and recall, with purpose-built activities, personalised feedback and projects kept in one place. This helps drive active learning at every stage, supporting every student to learn optimally and achieve their potential.?
2. Build meaningful teacher-student relationships with a remote set-up.
With a learning platform that empowers educators to give personalised feedback throughout the learning journey, at a course level right down to specific tasks, you can give remote and rural learners a brilliant learning experience.?
3. Build extensive evidence of learning.?
Rather than keeping student coursework, activities and assessments in a handful of different places, by using a platform that keeps everything securely in one place, institutions can build up a full picture of student progress over a course. This approach also helps students perform better, because they can see how they’re doing, and where they need to focus on, throughout the learning journey.
