LowCode's August Newsletter

Hi there,

Welcome to LowCode's August newsletter, where we'll digest expert insights, tips, and trends for thriving your no/low code journey.

On this month's issue:

Let's get right into it! ??

No-code development? Where to start? ????♂?

Quick answer: scope! Your project scope is the blueprint for your development journey, guiding budget and key milestones.

Before starting development, you must have defined how far you want to go with your project. Decide whether you want just a first version or a full-featured product from the beginning.

Here are some options:

  • MVP (Minimum Viable Product) Kickstart your project with an MVP—an essential version of your app that lets you test your idea and gather user feedback.
  • MSP (Minimum Sellable Product) Enhance your MVP with market-ready features like payment processing and user authentication to create an MSP.
  • Prototype Bring your ideas to life with a prototype—perfect for securing funding and refining your vision.
  • Full Scope Develop your final product with all the bells and whistles, fully scalable and ready for the market.

Breaking down no-code development costs ??

Although no-code development is between 50% and 70% cheaper than traditional development, there are some costs you should keep in mind to keep your project up-to-date and super scalable.

1??Subscription costs: No-code platforms operate on a subscription model, where you pay a recurring fee for access to tools, pre-built components, and testing environments. Whichever no-code platform you choose, you should know it already includes your app hosting, the builder, the elements, and sometimes even the integrations.

2??Ongoing maintenance: Even with no code, maintenance is still necessary. Regular updates, bug fixes, and adjustments are part of the process, so budget for ongoing support.

Choosing your no-code development approach ??

DIY (Do It Yourself)?

??Pros and cons: Taking the DIY route means you’re in charge of building your app, which can save money but requires a significant time investment and technical know-how. There’s a steep learning curve, especially if you’re new to development.

??Cost considerations: You’ll save on hiring costs but may incur expenses for tools and learning materials. Mistakes can be costly, leading to extra work, potential security issues, or even project failure.

??When to choose DIY: DIY is ideal if you have the necessary skills, a limited budget, and want full control over your project.

Development Agency?

?? Pros and cons: Hiring an agency brings a team of experts to handle your project, ensuring professional design, coding, and testing. This option offers structured management but can be more expensive.

?? Cost factors: Costs vary based on project complexity, agency location, and expertise required. Complex projects with advanced features typically cost more.

?? How to choose the right agency: Look at their portfolio, client reviews, and relevant experience. Good communication and a clear understanding of your goals are key. Check out our article on how to choose a no-code agency for more tips.

?

Freelancers?

?? Pros and cons: Freelancers offer flexibility with rates varying based on their expertise and location but can lack reliability or long-term vision to scale your project.?

?? Cost considerations: Hiring the most experienced freelancers can cost as much as working with an agency. However, choosing an agency provides access to a team of specialists in various areas of project development, whereas a freelancer works alone.

?? Vetting freelancers: Review portfolios, check references, and assess their communication skills. Ensure their expertise matches your project needs to ensure a smooth collaboration.

Customer spotlight: BarEssay ??

In this month's customer spotlight, we're thrilled to feature BarEssay. Robb, its founder, is an experienced attorney who was looking for ways to support law students in preparing for the bar exam.

What's the MVP we built for him? A robust Bubble app that's transforming how aspiring lawyers prepare for the California bar exam. Here's how it works: users upload their practice answers, and a proprietary AI, trained on real California bar questions, analyzes them within seconds, providing detailed feedback on issue spotting, rule statements, case law analysis, and more.

We're thrilled to share the kind words of our client about the result:

Robb's enthusiasm about the result reflects our dedication to not just meeting but exceeding client expectations. His testimonial is a testament to our commitment to providing top-tier service and support, ensuring our clients’ projects not only succeed but thrive.

Special shoutout to the Project Manager ( Julia Musante ) and developers ( Douglas Noldor & Alexis Morales Díaz ) in charge! ??

Glide meets OpenAI for a whole new level of no-code development ??

Integrate Glide with OpenAI and tap into all the potential of AI to elevate user experiences, create dynamic content, and enable personalized interactions. This integration offers a wide range of features, from natural language generation to real-time language processing, empowering you to unlock new possibilities and deliver innovative solutions within your app.?

Consider the potential to automate content like email newsletters or evolve user interactions into more engaging dialogues through intelligent chatbots. Or imagine transforming user inputs into stunning visuals instantly with Dall-E. Each feature not only adds functionality but enhances how users interact with your app, making experiences more engaging and responsive.
