Low-T or Low Testosterone Lawsuits

Low-T Lawsuits

For men that have suffered severe side effects due to Low-T therapy, a testosterone lawsuit may be called for. Testosterone is used to increase muscle mass, strengthen bone density and improve men's libido. Recent studies have linked testosterone treatments to an increased chance of stroke, heart attack, and even death. The Law Offices of Jones Brown PLLC are currently helping men and their families that may have been affected by Low-T or low testosterone therapy products who are seeking compensation from the manufactures of these Low-T or testosterone therapy products.

Testosterone Therapy:

It is estimated that in the United States alone, more than 6 million prescriptions are written by doctors for testosterone treatment each year. These therapies come in many different forms such as topical gels, patches, injections, creams and even pills. These therapies are prescribed to men who may be suffering from the effects of having low testosterone levels. Often referred to as "Low-T treatments," these therapies are meant to help increase the level of testosterone in one's body that may be low or declined due to a chronic condition or by the natural aging process that affects all men. According to a study done by the New England Journal of Medicine, many of these widely prescribed and used testosterone therapy brands may be associated with risk of serious cardiac problems in men.

According to the New England Journal's study: "In this population of older men with limitations in mobility and a high prevalence of chronic disease, the application of a testosterone gel was associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular adverse events."

There are 10 widely known and highly prescribed testosterone treatments being used in the United States including:

  • AndroGel
  • Axiron
  • Androderm
  • Bio-T-Gel
  • Delatestryl
  • Depo-Testosterone
  • Fortesta
  • Striant
  • Testim
  • Testople

Recent studies have found and linked testosterone treatments to an increased risk of stroke, heart attack, and death, especially in men that are predisposed to the conditions or in those who may be living with cardiac complications. As a result of these findings, affected men and their families are pursuing claims against several manufacturers of Low-T treatment products stating that the drug manufacturers making these products not only knew of these increased risks but also failed to properly warn the public in order to maximize sales.

Testosterone Treatments Safety:

There have been many men that have used testosterone treatment therapies to increase the levels of the hormone in their bodies successfully, at the same time, other men claim that these medications are NOT safe, and may cause serious and possibly life-threatening complications. Studies have shown that high blood counts, prostate cancer, benign prostatic hypertrophy, congestive heart failure, and sleep apnea may be worsened in men who are taking testosterone treatment therapies. Also, there are several health conditions such as plaque buildup, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity and artery blockage that could increase a patient's chance of experiencing stroke, death and heart attack. Men have also reported experiencing jaundice, headache, nausea, and vomiting while taking "Low-T" treatments. Anxiety, depression, anger and other mood or mental changes have also been reported as well as signs of liver disease as evident by reported abdominal pain and unusual tiredness. Men have also reported difficulty urinating and many experience swelling or tenderness of their breasts as well as frequent, bothersome or prolonged erections. Other side effects reported include excess retention of water, a decrease in sperm production and edema.

Testosterone Treatment or Low-T Lawsuits:

Many men that have experienced adverse side effects while taking a prescribed testosterone treatment therapy have filed testosterone lawsuits against drug manufacturers, alleging that their product or products caused life-threatening complications. Several drug manufacturers have also been accused of neglecting to inform both doctors and consumers of the potential for testosterone treatments to increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and death. Testosterone lawsuit plaintiffs are also alleging that they endured both physical and emotional damage while using testosterone therapies. There have been several wrongful death claims made on behalf of loved ones that passed away, allegedly due to complications caused by these testosterone therapies. Plaintiffs are also making claims to the fact that the drug makers had a responsibility to thoroughly research their products and to properly analyze the effectiveness as well as the safety of the medications in men with cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, obesity, blocked arteries, diabetes and other cardiac issues, yet failed to do so.

Drug manufacturers are also alleged to have used over aggressive and illegal marketing tactics all in an effort to promote their testosterone treatment medications. One manufacturer in particular allegedly made the claim that men who suffer from certain symptoms should be examined by their healthcare professional for signs of low testosterone levels such as fatigue, weight gain, low libido and lack of energy. Research, on the other hand, has shown that all of these symptoms could also come as a result of the natural aging process within men and are not necessarily indicative of low testosterone. As a result of these claims made by the drug manufacturer, many men used these medications when it was not needed, thus resulting in injuries and harm.

It is the responsibility and duty of drug manufacturers to inform consumers or potential consumers of their products full and accurate instructions as well as warnings to guide prescribing doctors and other healthcare providers in making treatment decisions. If a drug manufacturer fails in their responsibility to instruct and warn consumers properly and truthfully, they could be held liable by way of lawsuits for injuries that may result from their products.
