Is Low Construction Productivity is an Addiction?

Despite the fact that robust LEAN construction planning, planning, and project delivery tools and services are readily available to enable the consistent execution of quality repair, renovation, maintenance, sustainability, and new construction requirements on-time and on-budget, real property owners and oversight groups still engage in ineffective and antagonist construction delivery processes.

Design-bid-build and even design-build can not match the best value outcomes of LEAN construction planning, procurement, and project delivery. Nonetheless, 95% of owners focus on these and other relatively inefficient methods.

Like those that have physical and psychological additions, nothing will measurably improve across the AECOO sector (architecture, engineering, construction, operation, owner) until real property owners accept and support the clear need for fundamental process change.

Improvements in owner leadership, competency, and stewardship of the built structures and a conscious decision to effect change management are the only path to beneficial economic and environmental outcomes.

Need proof? Many, if not most owners currently believe that LastPlanner(TM), kaizen, CPM, 'et al' are LEAN construction planning, procurement, and project delivery solutions. They are not.
