Loving the Feeling Unloved

Loving the Feeling Unloved

Valentine's Day is a wonky day.

Suffice it to say, orchestrating a "Hallmark" moment is a rare gift, even for the most romantic of us.

Here are some tips for making the crankiest, most unlovable and most of all, OURSELVES, feel compassion and love today (and any day) at work, home or in your community.

Feeling rejected? You're making progress

My friend owns her own art business. She has made it her mission to log in 100 rejections - Calling on potential clients - she turns her efforts into a goal/game to take out the sting of rejection she may encounter. She tries not to take rejection personally. She's on a mission! (And she surrounds herself with friends who love her and an executive coach who keeps her focused) - She promotes and sells her art while building inner strength in the meantime to love herself. I love her attitude and she's very successful!

Tips for the others in your life who may feel unloved ????????????

Instead of flipping off someone in traffic who cuts you off on Valentine's Day or any other day - Turn up the volume on your love songs in your head and on the radio.

Cranky, stressed boss sends you an urgent email?

Walk by his or her office with a sweet treat or ask if they want to take a quick walk outside or to the break room for a beverage or fresh air. On Teams or Zoom? Play an innocuous, fun video clip off of YouTube and/or at minimum, greet them with a smile.

A neighbor down in the dumps? ????????

Buy a dozen stems of your favorite flower - Take one (or a few) and distribute to your favorite neighborhood worker bees, elderly or just surprise a friend. Note: You can do this any day of the week - not just Valentine's Day!

And last but not least, the quiet co-worker - who may or may not want to be disturbed....

This to me is the long-lasting opportunity for you and your colleague. We all know the saying - it's not what you say - it's how you made me feel. People remember long after you've worked together how you made them feel.

Has someone helped you lately?

When you were angry, feeling unloved, did someone show you compassion?

When and if you were laid off, did they follow up with you and ask you to connect on LinkedIn?

Send that someone a quick note and tell them Happy Valentine's Day.

Thank you for your LinkedIn love and for reading our newsletter musings. Remember: Always "Wear the Crown" - You work hard, love yourself. You've earned it!

As always, Cary Broussard, you communicate the perfect message at the right moment. Valentine's Day can be a tough day for so many! And as you pointed out, the greatest love, should be for ourselves. Most women don't know this. Let's each start the day with love and appreciation for ourselves!

Cary Broussard what a terrific valentine! Make it about someone else not yourself. Wonderful advice!

Thanks so much for posting all these good thoughts! Happy valentines day to you, Cary! And it's so true about needing to feel at least a little bit uncomfortable to make progress!! ??
