A Lovely Career in Audit & Assurance Firms!

Hello Folks!

A happy day today for me as I have stepped into role of Senior Manager at Deloitte UK in Treasury Assurance team. Indeed a great career milestone for me and I am proud of what i have achieved in my career until now!

I am writing today to share my career journey with you - maybe it will inspire some of you, maybe it will give career direction to some of you or maybe you just need that motivation!

So, where it all started!

The Beginning of an Adventure

• I started from a very small city where Chartered Accountancy qualification was not encouraged as it was believed to be a qualification which one can't pass and should never do! I took this challenge, and every thing went great!
• My career journey commenced at EY, where I was granted the opportunity to delve into the complexities of the auditing & assurance landscape.
• During my four-year tenure, I was immersed in various challenging assignments that expanded my knowledge base and instilled in me a strong foundation for success.
• Having qualified quite earlier during articleship, I have had opportunity to lead large number of teams and engagements and lead complex engagements.
• EY Presented me with an opportunity to go to Dubai for secondment which resulted to be a career game-changer.
• I thrived in an environment that fostered innovation, collaboration, and personal growth, and I eagerly embraced each project as an opportunity to contribute to my clients' success.

Taking the Leap to the UK

• Seeking new horizons and a fresh set of challenges, I made the courageous decision to move to the United Kingdom to join the esteemed Treasury Assurance team at Deloitte. There was a choice to move to other countries or other job profiles especially a Job offer from Deloitte Australia at same time as UK Treasury offer; however, I gladly chose UK Treasury team.
• This transition marked a significant turning point in my career, as I embraced the chance to work on a global stage and further elevate my auditing expertise. Moving to a new country not only presented professional opportunities but also offered the chance for personal growth and cultural enrichment.
• Also, working in UK and especially with Deloitte, I have had an opportunity and time to work on my passion of YouTube and I have had great success in that as well.
• Career wise, I started as Assistant Manager 2 and promoted to Senior Manager in Treasury Assurance Team effective 1 June 2024!

Senior Manager Journey at Deloitte UK

• Having started in a technical department like Treasury, it was always a learning curve since joining and i keep on learning new things every day or so!
• Started my career as AM2 in July 2019, I became AM3 in 2020, Manager in 2021 and Senior Manager in 2024!
• Senior Managership is indeed a great career milestone. After becoming Manager, it typically takes around 3 years to become a Senior Manager (it can be less or more depending on many factors).
• The process is very interactive, it involves being personally ready as well as having a business case. At the same time, you would need to pitch yourself in a panel of Director / Partner. All these things alongwith 360 feedbacks play a role into the process.

Navigating Challenges with Resilience

• Moving to the UK presented its fair share of challenges, both personally and professionally.
• Adapting to a new work culture, acclimatizing to a different business environment, and understanding the unique regulatory framework required resilience, determination, and open-mindedness.
• The process of integrating into a new team, building relationships, and understanding the nuances of working in a different country demanded a proactive approach and a willingness to learn from my colleagues and surroundings.
• Through perseverance and a positive mindset, I overcame these challenges, emerging stronger and more adaptable in the process.
• The biggest challenge was the understanding different accents of English Language as well as fluent speaking. It took some time to get used to it.

• Over the years, my dedication and commitment to delivering high-quality audits have yielded exceptional results.
• I take immense pride in the positive impact my work has had on what we do.

• The auditing & assurance profession is ever-evolving, shaped by technological advancements, changing regulations, and dynamic market conditions.
• Embracing this reality, I have continuously sought to stay ahead of the curve by embracing innovation and enhancing my skill set.
• From harnessing data analytics tools to streamline auditing processes, to leveraging emerging technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy, I have embraced the transformative power of technology to deliver exceptional results.
• By remaining adaptable, I have not only enhanced my own capabilities but also helped my teams thrive in a rapidly changing landscape.
• Also a keen learner of new tools, new AI research studies and also did embrace my CFA journey as well to enhance my skills.

• One of the most fulfilling aspects of my auditing journey has been the opportunity to collaborate with talented professionals from diverse backgrounds.
• I am a firm believer in the power of teamwork and the collective intelligence it brings. By fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment, I have witnessed firsthand the exponential growth and success that can be achieved.
• I take great pride in mentoring and developing junior auditors, providing guidance and support to help them unlock their full potential.

Looking Ahead

• As I reflect on my career journey , I am grateful for the opportunities that have shaped my career and the incredible individuals who have inspired me along the way. It has been a great and successful journey over the years working at EY across 2 locations and Deloitte UK.
• The auditing & assurance profession continues to evolve, presenting exciting challenges and possibilities for growth and I am eager to embrace the future.

My journey in the Audit & Assurance profession has been an exhilarating adventure of continuous growth and success. From my early days at EY to my bold move to the UK with Deloitte, I have embraced challenges with resilience, determination, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Each experience has shaped me into the professional I am today, enabling me to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-evolving industry. With the future ahead, I am excited to continue pushing boundaries, innovating, and making a positive impact in the world of auditing.
