Love yourself, love your job

Love yourself, love your job

Pagans celebrated the onset of Spring in February with all kinds of wild behaviour - stripping naked, getting it on, and sacrificing goats and dogs in the name of fertility. Early Christians felt that love should be celebrated in remembarance of a certain Valentine - who wound up being killed by the Romans for marrying Christians in secret. Poor guy.

These days, we celebrate Valentines in the usual commercial manner which is the norm in our society - choccies, dinner, flowers, dodgy underwear anyone? All to ensure we're not put in the dog-house by our dear darlings.

As society evolves, the idea of fertility celebrations have long faded, and archaic systems of marriage begin to fail, the one person we should all really love - is ourselves.

Loving ourselves comes in many forms - a strong group friends for social support, exercise to keep us feeling our best, a healthy diet to keep us bright and bouncy.

What we do - our jobs - is a big part of this: we make friends at work, gain satisfaction and self-esteem in what we produce - along with a feeling of identity. Employers are increasingly recognising this - striving towards inclusive and rewarding cultures, organising team events and ensuring we have enough rest to continue at our optimum levels.

For me - I love my job when I am able to help a company find the perfect person for their needs, and a candidate the role they really want. Getting to know both parties well is crucial to this process - chucking a bunch of irrelevant CVs and job specs at people rarely gets the results they want. It's the personable, detailed, consultant in me.

Feel free to DM me if you're thinking of hiring or seeking new opportunities in the near future - I'd be delighted to help!
