Love yourself before loving others
Last Saturday, I was in a meeting with my friends and the topic chosen for the occasion was grandmothers. So, the organizer asked us to share the pictures of our grandmothers to made with a great picture in their honor.
I shared the photo of my grandmother instantly and under my emotions I gave the following speech during the meeting.
My grandma Amina, which I called first ‘‘Lalla’’ and was then definitely her surname for the whole family, is still a special person for me.?She gave me the unconditional love. She made it possible for me not only learn about it but experience it.
Whoever, wherever and whenever I was, she was giving me her love unconditionally all the time. God bless her soul. I’m still today keeping her in my heart and wondering if this kind of love can exist.
During my past life, I tried to do the same and seek for the same. But in many relationships, people are just in the position of a conditional love; you’re giving me this I’m giving you that.
I also had in my life some people who just take from you and don’t feel the need to give something positive in return meanwhile their find no embarrassment to return something negative.
And maybe an anecdotic one was this person who told me once: after all this kindness, those gifts, and those good feelings, I’m suffering, and I quit.
But going through my life, I’ll find that there is all the time this kindness, those gifts, and those good feelings inside us and around us, from no where. In fact, this is the unconditional love God is giving us all the time, whatever who we are, where we are, and when we are.
God is all the time here and near. And doing so, God is teaching us that we deserve this love, and we can find it inside us by loving ourselves.
In fact, to love God and show it to him, it’s simple, we have to love his creature and the first one to start with is our self.
It’ not about being narcissistic or egoist but about valuing our self rather than seeking it from others and giving first to our self and then to others without really waiting a return from them.
God loves you, so
Love God, love yourself, love others!

1 年By reading your ‘speech’ felt like you were talking about my late grandmother. Very touching words. And unfortunately, we rarely have the chance to give something back to the love of these dear ones, unless… being young, we give just as much unconditional love.
