Love Your Veg - Top 10 Trends 2021/22 - thefoodpeople

thefoodpeople – ‘we’re shifting the future of food and drink by harnessing the power of trends’.
Loving plants, fruits and vegetables couldn't be more relevant than it is today and into the future.
Love Your Veg, for us, sits as part of a bigger megatrend movement – Re-Wild. Consumers are increasingly understanding that we need to change from viewing nature as something that is optional or nice to have, to the single greatest ally that we have in restoring balance to our world.
We see this rising fast as an influencer when it comes to consumer choice.
Consumers and brands are beginning to get behind movements such as, regenerative agriculture, biodiversity and consumers are also choosing whole vegetables, holistic vegan lifestyles and plant-based foods.
If the motivations of human and planetary health as well as consideration for animal welfare weren't enough to tempt consumers to make a shift towards eating more vegetables, plants now, in this RESET ERA, also come with an added hygiene halo.
In their natural form, we see even more examples of plants being celebrated for their local value, seasonality and varietal interest. Fruits and vegetables are often brought centre stage, with chefs and home cooks alike, through techniques such as confit, charring and fermenting.
Meat replacers and alternatives are very much beginning to move with the rest of food culture. They're shifting to shorter, more natural ingredient lists. Alongside that, influencers and brands are continuing to break down this food genre and the barriers to plant-based foods such as: appeal, versatility, cost, lack of education, transparency of ingredients and processing.
Love Your Veg is truly inspiring and a place of appeal.
Consideration for the role that plant-based foods play is key. Not just for those that have committed to a vegetarian or vegan regime, but also for the broader opportunity of those that are taking a flexible or flexitarian approach to how they're having an impact on the world.
So loving plants and loving your veg couldn't be more relevant than it is today and into the future!
