Love your job but don't love your company, why ???

This is a real example of a person who had joined a leading health insurance organisation with a vast experience in bluechip MNC's and leading general / life insurance organisations, where it was assured by the senior management that employees may plan retirement as this organisation says 'it is more like a family than a corporate'. This was the biggest bluff to bring resources at the reduced CTC and lesser designation!

There was no hr norms whatever was set by senior management was the last word till the grass route level to be followed, the biggest vintage and richest salesforce who were called Sales Managers or Senior Sales Manager didn't have any attendance matrix or office timing before 2021-22, so they used to remain absconding or doing other business as their agents were doing business for the organisation. The Branch Head and Operations who were to be present at the branch all the time till extended office hours even on Sundays if the office is kept open to meet the sales target. Post 2022 geo-matrix attendance systems were introduced and followed, but some Sales Manager used to take the advantage of that too, some used to mark their attendance outside office and leave, hr had no role to support!

Every responsibility was entrusted on the shoulder of the branch heads including paying branch celebration, training and misc. expenses from his pocket as petty cash was half of actual expenses every month and all blame used to come from all directions if something goes wrong! Incentives and promotions were more like winning a lottery restricted to few chosen ones only and never seen any incentive statement ever in the organisation till the working tenure, Divisional Manager increment was withdrawn within a year from all employees without any notice after getting enlisted in the stock exchange!

There were major drives for the organisations achievement of meeting annual turnover yardsticks year after year, on achievement of the same some cash rewards or foreign trips were offered. Expansion of sales force from personal reference or personal ads at different locations than one's own hometown as outstation posting were advised by the management in regular intervals to all most all employees.

After having worked for more than 7 + years at different locations with 100% sincerity and effort and also having created successful sales forces from personal reference, suddenly the management changes during April, 2023, there was a significant change in top management so as the management version 2.0 generated and cascade down to the grassroot level!

Soon, the downline behaviour of middle management has changed abruptly and treatment to few employees has become different than others for some personal liking/disliking reasons. There were regular zoon sessions before or after office hours where few employees were targeted to be humiliated by their seniors and also harass them by doing whatsApp video calls even on Sundays, sudden number asking sessions over phone anytime during the day on a regular basis were exercised!

The most sincere and honest employees are kept under tremendous mental pressure and asked to resign on a regular basis after transferring them to another de-grown location under a new reporting relationship. One fine day when the fellow employee don't see any support from the middle management and his surrounding colleagues and hr has no norm except issuing and collecting offer and resignation letter, then he is forced to resign under distressed and severe humiliated condition at a age when no other job would be available to him with a dependant cancer patient and a growing daughter at home.

The best part of the story is the company didn't allow him three months notice period either and blocked all his benefits including GMC benefit so that ongoing cancer treatment can be stopped immediately after his forced resignation without any official misconduct and complaints received from his internal subordinates or external stakeholders.

Therefore, take this piece as a lesson as Dr A P J Abdul Kalam's famous quote 'Love your job but don't love your company, because you may not know when your company stops loving you'.

True..I faced similar instances in the last organisation i worked for..Zoom had become an easy way out for some seniors to take unnecessary class of their juniors..A single person can ruin the entire system and even after managemnt knowing about it dont know why didnt took any necessary steps
