How to LOVE: The Ultimate, Universal Unspoken Language

I got extremely frustrated over something this morning. 

I huffed off to the bedroom, closing the door behind me. 

My 23 month old daughter, sensing something was wrong, called out to me as I shut the door.

My initial response was to ignore here, just so I could spend a little while wallowing in my self-pity.

Then, my wife called to me saying, “your daughter is calling for you”.

Ughh. I shrugged off my momentary frustration and opened the door. She was running toward me. 

I scooped her up and for the next few minutes she just hugged me… cheek on cheek. 

The longer she held on, her little hand caressing my shoulder, the more those negative feelings and emotions dissipated; floating away like a gentle summer breeze.

All the frustration, worry, care, or momentary concern I carried melted away like hot wax.

A calmness and peace overtook me. Tears welled up in my eyes. 

Time stood completely still. What was only a few minutes, felt like an eternity.

There were no words. Her actions spoke louder then anything she could’ve possibly tried to articulate to me in her limited vocabulary. 

It was the language of LOVE. 

Without a single utterance, she had felt what was wrong and instinctively knew how to remedy it. 

It was as if I could silently hear her say, “everything’s going to be alright, daddy.”

My attitude and composure immediately transformed. 

Love, my friend, is the ultimate, universal language. It can speak through us, or anyone else… at any point in time.

A child, a parent, an adult, a friend, an unknown bystander, or even a complete stranger. 

If we learn how to speak it to others, it has the power to forever change our world for the better.

Its’ repercussions and ripple effect can affect your own heart and soul, or that of another, for all of eternity…
