Love Thy Neighbor: Hurricane Harvey Relief Still Needed

Its been a year and its hard to believe that help is still needed to repair the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey. Imagine having your life turned upside down overnight and a year later still couch surfing while you wait for your home to be repaired. That is the fate of many of our neighbors down in Houston. As a survivor of the Bastrop Fires in 2011, I understand first hand the negative impact time can have on recovery efforts. The rest of the world moves on, and those impacted are left to continue on the path to recovery alone. 

My company, Beingwell365 is partnering with a local organization Live Beyond to return to Houston to help rebuild homes still in disrepair. While they usually do work in Haiti, they also do disaster recover missions where needed. My wife recently returned from a weekend mission trip with this organization and inspired me to organize a journey of my own.

We will be traveling down on the morning of Friday, August 17 and be returning on Sunday, August 19. The team going will be placed in the homes of local church members and work to repair damaged homes around the greater Houston area.

“Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.” Romans 15:2
