Love Thy Neighbor

Growing up I went to church every time the door was open.
I heard the phrase "Love Thy Neighbor" many times.
It is only three words.
It is only fifteen letters.
It has the power to change the world.
When I was younger I thought my neighbor was just the people who lived next door that I could walk to.
Now I realize that neighbor is anyone we come in contact with.
Even those with different color skin.
Even those who voted for a different politician.
Even those who love the same gender.
Everyone is my neighbor.
What would happen if we all practiced "Love Thy Neighbor"?
Actually...What would happen if just I practice "Love Thy Neighbor"?
That simple act would change the world.
It would change the world for me and those I interact with.
I was just on a call with one of my IEP clients team and after I hung up I had this question....
What if everyone on the team thought about "Loving Thy Neighbor" when interacting with the student?
What if we looked at strengths?
What if we looked at what they are doing right?
What if we gave them some grace each day?
A big part of me being able to "Love Thy Neighbor" is making sure I am in a good place mentally.
It is my responsibility to be in a place where I can be the best version of myself so I can "Love Thy Neighbor".
I also need to give myself grace when I mess up and try better next time.
Do you "Love Thy Neighbor"?
Do you really "Love All of Thy Neighbors"?
If you already do congratulations.
If you don't there is still time to start.
What are you going to do today to make the world more inclusive?

1 个月This is great advice. “Love Thy Neighbor” is not just about our neighbors but everyone we come into contact with!
