Love is Our Highest Calling

Love is Our Highest Calling

"And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." - 1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV

According to scripture, we should make love our highest goal. Love should be our primary objective and our life purpose. It should not just be one of the things we want to practice in life, but the number one priority. Jesus tells us that the greatest commandment is to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind" and to "Love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:37-39).

Why does God instruct us to make love our highest goal? First, because loving relationships are what life is all about. Without love, we are bankrupt. Secondly, love leaves a mark for eternity.

If we want to leave a legacy and positively influence others, we should fill our lives with loving words and actions.

We are faced with countless decisions each day about how to spend our time. Choosing love is always the right decision, and it is how we become more like Jesus.

Intentionally reach out lovingly, and as you interact with others be sure to ask yourself the question, “Did he/she feel loved?” Do not underestimate the powerful impact this can have on people.

Always focus on connecting well so that when you love others, they receive it and feel what you hoped to deliver—God’s gift of love wrapped up specifically for them.
