Love for Number 13

Love for Number 13

Until 2010 I was not aware of "Triskaidekaphobia". Oh! Please do not think that this is a word coined by me like 'Farhanitrate Prerajulisation' in the movie 3 idiots.

"Triskaidekaphobia" is the term for extreme superstition regarding the number 13.In 2010, during 10th boards I had my seat number as 13 thats the time I got to know about 13 being the unlucky number from one of the uncles. My brain could not process this data. My brain instead gave me a pop up message about 13 being a Happy Number as per Number Theory but not the other way.

How do we end up stating that a number is lucky or not? Its simply data, our mind drawing a pattern and building up with a perception.Data might be partial, incorrect or irrelevant but we end up with a perception.

Unlucky 13 ?

The idea of the number 13 being an unlucky number also has its roots in the fact that there were 13 people present on the Jesus Christ’s last supper. The 13th to sit on the table was the apostle Judas Iscariot, who later betrayed Christ.  12 IS A PERFECT NUMBER, SO 13 MUST BE UNLUCKY.(Thats crazy!!)

Let me share few positives about 13, not to create a Halo effect but to share the other perspective too.

Lucky 13 ?

Taylor was born on December 13, and she turned 13 on Friday the 13th.(Thats definitely a positive!) Not a big deal? Her first album went gold in 13 weeks, and her first #1 song had a 13-second intro. While Greek believe 13 is lucky as its a complete number as it is a prime number and can be only divided by itself. Thus they say it represents totality, completion and attainment. 13th day in Hindu tradition is also considered auspicious "Trayodashi"

Not only was Apollo 13 the thirteenth mission of the Apollo space program, but it also launched at 13:13 on April 11, 1970. Successful Failure it is called. Its our mind who perceive the same as success or failure.

Now I have told you all about the lucky or unlucky 13. However, my love for number 13 isn't the luck factor but the Mendeleev's periodic table.

Did you know that element 13 is a silvery-white, soft, non magnetic and the most abundant metal. Element 13 by mass is about 8% of the Earth's crust, where it is the third most abundant element (after oxygen and silicon).\

Element 13 is an essential need in today's world: Aluminium or Aluminum

Why would Aluminium be essential? Ever gave it a thought?

We are called the E generation who are dependent on electronics which is dependent on aluminium be it the cellphone to connect us or to help us work from home.

Aluminium is a good electrical conductor and is often used in electrical transmission lines. It is cheaper than copper and weight for weight is almost twice as good a conductor.

The Telescope mirrors made out of aluminium lets us know more about the stars out there(the stars in the sky not the page 3 one)

I should'nt be biased but the Aluminium industry is also the reason for my bread and butter and infact for a thousands out there.

Be it the ready to eat food in cans or homely food in the aluminium foils. From the tip of your nib to the top of the bin, aluminium is everywhere. Infact it also helps us to drive everywhere !

Now you know why I love the essential 13....don't you???

That's my LOVE FOR NUMBER 13
