2 Real-Easy Feel-Good Hacks
My six-year-old granddaughter wrote this note for my wife and I.
I call them “love notes.”
I got the idea from Joe Berman Zt”l who used to leave a note under his wife’s pillow every day! I’m not such a big Tzaddik, I try to do it once a week, by the Shabbos candles. So my granddaughter asked if I would write her one too.
What could I say, she takes cute pills!
Some weeks it’s a little challenging to write something new, but that’s why they invented ChatGPT.
I didn’t know this, but these lawn signs are a business. You tell them what you want it to say, when you want it said, and how long you want it saying for. And assuming that your credit card isn’t declined, it just appears on your lawn.
In my day it was hallmark cards, now it’s lawn signs. I expect my grandchildren will have satellites form messages in front of the moon.
Why?
Light is the fastest thing in the universe. Condemning Israel in the UN, is the second. However, the most powerful thing in the universe is knowing how important you are.
Know that and you’ll have no problem getting up in the morning. The opposite is just as true, the root of all apathy comes from feeling you aren’t worth much.
Just as it’s hard for our children to appreciate how valued they are in our eyes, so too, we struggle believing our true value.
If you want to get more done, if you want to be an incredible achiever, all you have to do is realize that you are one of God’s favorite people.
How do you know?
If Moses really cared about the water then he wouldn't have let Aharon hit it either!

Because it has nothing to do with the water, it’s all about Moses. How could Moses hit the water, God saved him through it.
Just like my wife keeps all her love notes, this was a love note from God to Moses.
Those breaks you get in life - they’re God’s little love notes to you.
It’s important to appreciate that Moses was a three month old baby, abandoned by his mother and cast into the river. Moses could easily have focused on all the negatives of his history.
And that’s what most people do.
And ignore the love notes!
Instead, he held on to the positive. The love note.
It’s not that we don’t have our own Moses story, it’s just that we often focus on the negative part of it.
I can just imagine a modern-day Moshe explaining to his therapist, “And my sister just stood there watching! And then, a complete stranger just took me away! She even changed my name, and even tried to feed me non-kosher food!”
If you are walking, breathing and drinking coffee, it’s because you have a long list of moments in your life that demonstrate that you are one of God’s favorite people.
There are really two hacks here.
ONE, if you want to be married to someone who thinks that they are special, then write her a love note.
Regularly.
TWO, if you want to really live, notice the love notes God sends you.
By noticing, respecting and revering the breaks in life we get, we are connecting to our value in God’s eyes. And nothing is more powerful than that!
Retired!
1 个月Two things - I wish I could save in some physical way all of G-d’s love notes to me. And I have a friend whose wife leaves him sticky note love notes and he saves them all. He is lucky and so is she.
