Love Letters to Camp Fire: Heartfelt Words from Our Families

We love what we do here at Camp Fire First Texas, and nothing makes us happier than hearing from our Camp Fire families! Knowing that our programs, staff, and services are making a difference and creating lasting memories for kids is what it’s all about. Check out some of the amazing stories families have shared with us below!

From Day Camp to Overnight Camp!

We love Camp Fire! This is the second summer using Westcliff Day Camp in Fort Worth for our granddaughter. Cannot say enough good things about the team there! Peyton loves going every single day! The programs are good, fun and educational.

And this was our first experience with Camp El Tesoro and Peyton’s first overnight camping experience. We chose the 4-day camp since we didn’t know how it would go for a first time away, and of course guess who was not ready to leave when we picked her up! The loving care of the counselors and staff is evident! Loved seeing the sparkle in the eyes of the kids! We can’t wait to come back for Summer 2025.

As a Blue Bird, then a Camp Fire Girl (just yesterday) I wanted Peyton’s experiences with Camp Fire Camp to be rich and memorable as mine … and her experiences have been all that and more.

Longtime Afterschool Crew

My kids have gone to Camp Fire Afterschool for the past five years. Every year, I’m so grateful Camp Fire is offered at their school. Aside from having somewhere to go while I’m at work, my kids enjoy spending time with their friends and doing the fun activities offered. My family has built relationships with the staff who are always kind, caring, and professional. I know without a doubt my kids are in good hands. Management are also understanding and easy to work with.

A Family’s Journey with Camp Fire

My girls have been going to Camp Fire since they started school. They are now 7 and 11 years old. We have done the afterschool program, the day camp, and the El Tesoro overnight camp. We really enjoy the variety of activities that each camp provides and the friendships that our girls have made along the way. For the day camp, their favorites are the swim and field trip days. For the overnight camp, some of my daughter’s favorites are the swim games and photography. She also says that the food is amazing!

All the camp staff and support staff have always been so helpful and caring. As a household with two working parents, the exceptional service that Camp Fire provides is greatly appreciated. We look forward to many more years to come!

Love for Camp El Tesoro!

Every year, my daughter comes home from camp happy and glowing and with a sense of confidence and independence. She purposely does not request cabin buddies because she loves the feeling of going in and meeting all new kids in a place where she’s confident that she is physically and emotionally safe. Every year, I’m nervous for my normally shy girl, and every year when I pick her up, I’m so glad she got the experience. My daughter had all good stuff to say about Camp El Tesoro. She enjoyed photography and creek walking and the dance. She does yoga every year and loves it. She thought the food was particularly good this year and even ate the mashed potatoes! (This is a big deal because she does not eat potatoes in any form at home!) She made a lot of new friends and really loved her counselors!
