A Love Letter to Technology
During this unique and challenging time for us all, you really get to see what modern technology has enabled us to do and how it is helping people of all ages adapt temporarily to a different way of life and I want to say a big Thank You.
Over the past 3 days, my young daughters have worked out live with Joe Wicks, had a live dance class with Oti Mabuse, done school lessons via online video and spoken to their Grandparents on FaceTime. My wife, a Pre-Prep teacher, has delivered virtual lessons, recorded and posted “Mrs Webster's Story Time” at 3pm each day on YouTube for the pupils, recorded and edited The Easter Assembly and has put together a library of lip synced videos performed by the teachers singing along to Disney classics.
None of this would be possible without the people that had the ideas, but also not possible without the people that backed those ideas. Most people I am connected to here on LinkedIn are from the leasing and finance sectors, the sector I recruit for, and have played a big part in this.
On behalf of my daughters, I want to say thank you to the individuals and finance companies who took the chance and backed people and ideas with their money, to the underwriters who said yes to the software developers, to the marketeers who believed in the ideas and told us about them, to the early adopters who gave the ideas a shot and to the rest of us for embracing something new which encourages more people to have new ideas and amaze us with them.
For my daughters of 7 and 4, this is their normal but for most people who will see this, in one way or another, you’ve played a part in that being the case.
