As Gabriel sat on his bed that night, he suddenly realized that there

was a way to discuss his fears with Stacy without bothering her, for she

had always said that one of the biggest gifts that the internet has stolen

from the earth is the excellence of letter writing. She always encouraged

him to write to her and other loved ones “instead of typing disjointed

sentences with funny and unsafe abbreviations in a so called internet

chat.” He grabbed his pen and allowed his thoughts to pester his paper

for as long as the words flowed.

To the one whom I greatly love, Stacy My Dear,

This world would be empty without love, and life would be next to vanity without the

love that we share. You make me feel so loved. Your love, so pure and strong makes

me strong when weakness invades me; your love drives health into my bones when

sickness dares to show its face; your love brings streams of calm whenever distress

demands my day. Thank you my Love. You must be palpably puzzled to be holding

a letter from me when we are only two miles apart. I think myself happy that the

experiences that have besieged my day have driven me to write to you my fine lady.

since that desire was born, I am actually of the opinion that I have been living in a

dream land. The country is as complicated as it is corrupt, the population is

enormous and divided and resistance to positive change is grave and long and

unswerving.

As I battled with my mind, thoughts about you clouded my brow; your calm and

candor, your humor and harmony, and your grace and grit brought rivers of peace to

my fainting soul.

This vision is too heavy for my young heart. I am thoroughly confused. Perhaps I

have allowed myself to be carried away by a wind that is headed for an uncertain

destination. I had thought that this letter was going to be about three times longer,

but my thoughts are as confused as my hands: my body is weary, my mind is

exhausted and my spirit is frightened. I love you Stacy and I know not what I would

do without you. Thanks for reading my letter and have a pleasant night.
