Love to Learn
A Career on the Cutting Edge (Story published in Profile Magazine 2018)

Often times I am asked how I got to the position I'm at, or what I specifically did that made a career opportunity happen. Over the years I have answered that question with many answers, detailing my path, what I did, the people that helped me, and thanked my lucky stars. However, the answer is much more simple and concrete. There is one skill that has carried the day in shaping my path, my love to learn and grow.
Throughout my career journey, each transition has been fueled by uncertainty, risk, and excitement. In each case, the deciding factor was my desire to learn. Importantly, I have not always recognized this factor and have relied on may helping hands and mentors to show me the way, but deep down, the excitement was always coming from what I may learn, what is just around the corner.
I'd like to thank everyone along my journey that has helped, my partner Rhea, Mike Jacobson and Brad Handler and eBay's amazing development culture, Eric Goldman my professor in Law School, countless peers in the privacy field, brilliant law firm partners at Foley, Greenberg, Perkins, Hogan, Cooley, Fenwick, MoFo, and the list goes on.
So, if you find yourself asking what you should do, where to turn, my advice is to ask yourself what you want to learn next, and jump!
