Why transform an Alliance into a Relationship?
The words "Alliance" and "Partnership" imply a predominately transactionally-oriented type of teaming up, in order to win competitive battles in the marketplace.
Mutually-beneficial transactions and marketplace wins are admittedly necessary endeavors. However, our work must go beyond competitiveness.
Winning is necessary but insufficient.
The word "Relationship" focuses us on the creative power that lives in-the-between and throughout our collective web-of-relationship. That word lends itself to a more collaborative, value-creating atmosphere. Leading the companies toward the establishment a sustainable collaborative advantage in their ecosystems.
A collaborative advantage is our goal.
How does Transformation happen?
Love is transformative; and, listening is an act of love. We know this in our interpersonal relationships. It is also true in intercompany relationships.
The act of deep listening is transformative.
Then, over time, we will learn how to hear the voice-of-the-collective, via deep and authentic interpersonal dialogue. Our web-of-relationship will become self-directed - transformed.
Listen, hear, understand, act.
Why Love?
Love is a creative force. Given we are creators of value; we should bring in love.
Love is powerful. Given we often cry out for more power; we should bring in love.
Love is transformative. Given our relationships are meant to be transformative (i.e., change the business); we should bring in love.
What is Love?
As it says in this one-page mind-map, defining love is admittedly impossible. It is, nonetheless, worth talking about it. This page adds to the ideas in the mind-map.
Love is the Creative Power of the Universe.
Love permeates the training and consulting services I offer to SRMs. It is a fundamentally important principle.
