Love Hangover? Time to Name Your Brand

Okay, we got all mushy yesterday about brand stories.?

Now, let's channel that leftover Valentine's Day energy into the birth of your awesome brand identity – starting with the name and tagline.?

Because hey, you can't fall in love with someone who doesn't even have a name, right?

Why Naming Matters Like Crazy

Your name is the foundation of everything.

This better be memorable and say something about who you are.

Also, it has to have all these characters:

  • First Impression:?It's like swiping left or right on a dating app – instant judgment happens.
  • Memorability:?Think?"Kleenex"?or "Xerox" – so ingrained we forget they're brand names!
  • Emotional Connection:?Good names tap into feelings, like "Airbnb" evoking adventure.

Name Types – What's Your Flavor?

  • Founder's Name:?Classic, but works best if your surname's got some charisma (sorry, John Smith Co.)
  • Descriptive:?Spotify and PayPal – get straight to the point but can be dull.
  • Invented:?Like Kodak or H?agen-Dazs, it's memorable but harder to pull off, and you'll need to invest in creating meaning behind the name.

Tagline Time

Your tagline is a snappy summary, like a brand wingman whispering in someone's ear.

This is a sidekick to your name that packs a punch.

It is short, snappy, and clarifies your vibe. Like:

  • De Beers:?"A Diamond is Forever"?(whoa, fancy, timeless)
  • M&Ms:?"Melts in your mouth, not in your hands"?(problem-solving and a bit cheeky)

Post-Valentine's Day Realness

Maybe your true love yesterday was chocolate; today's all about that post-sugar-rush focus.?

Your brand name needs that same staying power!

A strong brand name impacts way past the first flush of excitement.

And if this makes your head spin, no worries.?

Naming is a specialty of mine.

Something Fun

Brand name changes (successful and cringe) are a wild rabbit hole to fall.

Does anyone remember when Pizza Hut tried to be "The Hut"?

The Wrap-Up

Think of it like picking the perfect outfit for a first date – going to stand out with the right fit.

Until next time, happy name brainstorming!
