‘Panama papers’ are currently shaking the world. The ‘feathers’ of some great world leaders have been ruffled by this news. The Prime Minister of Iceland bowed out of office as a result of this. You might find that some of these leaders are innocent but being surrounded by wrong characters, their names are tarnished. If you want to excel in leadership, be vigilant. Whenever corruption pokes its nose, innocent people suffer. Corruption is a type of sin that leads to death directly or indirectly. Victims are subjected to all ills including poverty, improper sanitation that leads to poor health, crime due to lack of job opportunities, social and political breakdown (instability) and others. Once the funds that were meant for a certain public project are diverted elsewhere selfishly, whoever that facilitates this becomes a silent killer.
Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us a green light on how to gauge good people. He simply said: “You will know them by their fruits!” By the fruit of their lives you will know them. Do people gather grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Mt 7:16 (TCNT)
Below are some soul-searching questions that a good leader should ask: (1) What is the integrity meter-reading of their advisers? (2) What is their past record? (3) What is the intention of them wanting to associate with you? (4)Is their leadership skills proven? (5) Who are the close friends of things close associates? Have they been implicated in corruption deals before?
There is a free dose we can take and be insulated from corruption and its consequences. If you remember that whatever you do will be scrutinized by others even when you have already left the scene, you are doing well!
