LOVE

I want to talk about hate. It seems like hatred is so popular that I think it has gotten all multi-purposed and has lost its real meaning. I think hatred should carry its weight so that we can really savor the real punch of unadulterated hatred. I really hate it when I’m late, but I am more forgiving when others are occasionally late. And I really hate it when people are having a loud conversation on the bus or train and I have to listen to it for the whole trip. Now I do hate the sin but not the sinner…which is just not easy, but it is doable. I hear so much hatred on the social media in the guise of self-righteous rationale….to tell the truth, I really hate that. I think the Universe would benefit from one huge complaint department. Actually, that department is called Idolatry: Meaning your idea of Creation or existence is just better. Some people speak of Nazi Germany to compare people who deserve to be hated. The Germans were mesmerized by their love and attraction to their mythological investment to be the ‘Superior Race’. They were accomplished in music, literature, architecture and science. They even loved children and puppies. Their passions and self-aggrandizement just made it easier to rationalize their hatred for ‘subgroups’, Jews and contributions to the ‘Final Solution’. Life sucks sometimes and it’s easy to just blame some group or person because your life isn’t going the way that you want it. If you had everything that you want in life, would your complaints be the same? Really, we are charged with the responsibility to control ourselves and the attempts to change our lives for the better. Do you really think that hating is a possible way to impact the world or change your life? I think it’s important to consider that humanity is universal and that we are all capable of this systematic and group hatred….and of course its opposite. I think it’s probably a good idea that we pause ourselves when we have the urge to implement the ‘hate’ word and really use it appropriately and responsibly. All we really need is love.
