Love And Community

Love And Community

Dear friend,

It's my second week of connecting with you through this newsletter, I am happy to share with you good news, my wife delivered our first baby 7 days ago, and we are naming him "Jamal" (which means beauty in the English language).

I am fascinated to witness the birth of our first son and also delighted to share in the beautiful smiles of my lovely wife, Hawau. She did most of the work and I'm forever grateful for her coming into my life. A humble beautiful piece of art that God gave me in this world. It was an emotional state of mind for both of us as we experienced the labour process women all over the world go through before they give birth. The child labour pain is nothing to be compared to in this world, women deserve more. May the lord protect all pregnant women in the world.

I wish you are happy the way I'm today.

I will continue on my community stories, the essence of good tidings, and why Africans need more healthy communities. Ever since I decided to embark on this community-building journey, I find more of a need to build for all regardless of cultural background, religious belief or racial diversity. I learnt more about good deeds and how effective they can affect human psychology.

Good deeds last longer in everyone's mind, and that is why good people are happy to give their all to satisfy anyone around them.

Earlier this month, I received a call from one of my old friends from college, we are so happy to hear each other voice, he invited me over for lunch and I was so glad to socialise with him, he is a very lively guy to vibes with, we discussed briefly old memories we shared and it was fun to remember how childish we are in those days. My friend reminded me of my zeal to create harmony between some bullied set of students in our final year, and how passionate it was for me at that time. I responded with a smile, that quality and passion have been my key factors in building a self-sustainable community. I want to do more good deeds because I am inspired by people around me, who are striving daily to ensure people feel the essence of community building.

People will always remember you when you leave a good mark in their hearts, they will always connect with you wherever you are and that is true love. Community brings people of the same objectives together to learn, share resources, support and fight for one another in any circumstance.

Starting is fun at the beginning, and seeing growth is essential in any community, it is the major purpose people start a community around their business or organization. metrics inspire you to determine if you are making progress with your quest. You should be intentional about the growth of your community if you want to record substantial progress.

Dos and Don'ts of starting a community

Dos:

  1. Do: Lead by example; Connect with the right mindset and learn from each other, for you to create a solid community, you must be open to learning always
  2. Do: Prioritize metrics; Numbers tell a lot about the healthiness of your community, focus on creating values, don't assume your growth, and improve your analytics skills, if you don't have the skill, get someone who does in your team.
  3. Do get a proper onboarding process; Let your community members know that you care about them, and create a seamless onboarding strategy to make them feel comfortable as they join your community.

Don'ts:

  1. Don't ignore relevant feedback; It gives you the opportunity to clean up your mistakes and get updates on moving forward.
  2. Don't get stuck; Community building can be challenging, so never give up on why you started it, and share your challenge with your mentors.
  3. Don't be fake; Be authentic and resilient. Learn, unlearn and relearn the best practices that will make your community benefit from you, and be resilient about creating original content for your audience.

Be energetic to do more, community building is highly rewarding for your career development and it's rewarding with consistency.
