“Love you”

My mind landed on the words for a few seconds as I considered the appropriateness of saying that on LinkedIn.

Me. The girl who surrounds herself with hearts, loves with full abandonment and founded a business with the word heart in it. Second guessing if it was ok to write that in public. Wow.

“Love ya”

A message of support. (Perhaps dumbed down a little with a ‘ya’ and not a ‘you’ because is it really appropriate to say that if you aren't in a fully committed relationship with them?)

“?? you”

I wrote. (Perhaps an emoji won’t make me feel quite so vulnerable as actually writing the full word, love)

Wow. Wow.

What’s with that word?

Why is it so loaded?

I say it to my Dad and he can’t quite respond. My sister can only respond with “and you”.

L.O.V.E

As I considered whether it was appropriate to say “love you” on LInkedIn, it struck me the complete irony of it all.

The one thing that connects every single LinkedIn user is love.

Aside from the A.I. bots on here . The rest of us are human.

Love is a big flipping deal. We are all touched, broken, expanded and everything in between by it.

Yet it scares us.

When I changed the name of my community to Like Hearted Leaders. I lost some people.

Too fluffy.?

Too soft, they said.

Yet, how can we not give attention to the one thing that connects us all?

How can we do life, do business without tapping into our hearts and how they are feeling?

Emotions aren’t soft and fluffy, they are the pathways that lead us towards our authentic self.

So I urge you to join me and take time to give love the acknowledgement it deserves.

Don’t be afraid.

Love what you do (even if it's not perfect)

Love who you are (even though you are an imperfect human and will mess up)

Love those you spend time with (give them the gift of your presence)

Embrace it all because humans have hearts and that’s never going to change.

Let’s not pretend otherwise.
