The Love of Carolina Blue

There comes a day when as a kid you decide your favorite color, and often stick with that choice for life.?

It is a pivotal decision.

Most kids choose the more common colors like black, red, blue, green, yellow, and more. Very few choose a specific tone or shade of a particular color, as most do not know the full extent of the color wheel.

If you went back 10 years and asked a younger me what my favorite color was. I would’ve told you it was blue.

Not just any blue though, a light blue, a sky blue, a baby blue, Carolina Blue.

At the current time, I had no idea what UNC was besides stories I had heard from my father. But for some reason, I had an attraction to the color that would never fade.

My family and I moved while I was in middle school, and I was finally allowed to paint my room.?

“What color would you like your wall to be?” My mother asked me.

“Blue. Light Blue.” I replied.

“Carolina Blue!” My dad shouted as he gave me a high-five.?

As the years went on I slowly began adding on to my Carolina Blue collection. It began by receiving UNC shirts and pajamas for Christmas, hanging a picture of the Dean Dome above my bed, and spending an unbelievable amount of money on merchandise when I came to visit during my junior year of high school.?

Now at the ancient age of 21, I find myself just as obsessed with the color as I was during my youth. Unfortunately, I was not able to don the Carolina Blue and White basketball jerseys I had dreamed of doing, I didn’t grow to be 6 '7 as I intended. However, I still found myself choosing Carolina instantly as soon as I received the acceptance letter.

Today, I find myself the ultimate Carolina Blue ambassador. Rivaling the athletes in merchandise, rivaling the die-hard fans with flags and posters, and most of all…?

Making my younger self proud by keeping Carolina Blue on me at all times.?
