Love is in the Air. And the Visual.

The gentle brief and all things factual:

One of those times, when the Visual writer in me took over to come up with this rather bent visual that turned up in my head (yes, the line came in just after).

Also one of those times when you get that kick to come at a simple brief with the energy of a love-struck teenager.

The Brief (and I reproduce that here in verbatim from my precious mind castle from well over a decade ago) : "We want a simple ad to promote www.khimjishopping.com , Oman's first ever 'luxury shopping website'. We have a limited budget for a print/poster/onlinebanner campaign. So no money for expensive shoots, as we have already exhausted it for the shoot of the products for the product line on the site."


The insightful opportunity:

The date for the launch also coincided with Valentine's Week - one of those times when luxury sales go up on the sales chart in retail. Just right for a Valentine theme to direct visitors to the site ...




The opportunity to breathe an idea into love:

And then Cupid struck.

When one simply sees the 'cursor arrow' as Cupid's arrow.

And then of course, the rest of the idea sort of unfolded from there to make its point with minimalistic respect to the power of the all encompassing visual idea against bright red.

Got it immediately scamped up on paper after touring Muscat city for inspiration while also looking for any semblance of an idea of love floating in the air.

This one had Tariq Ansari and N. Sivarama krishnan make it come to life under the art direction of my creative partner, BALA KRISHNAN - Branding Specialist

Goes to prove all along that when it comes to love, the gesture is more shown and best expressed in a line or two. :-)


Results:

Won many hearts across Oman. And an increased footfall to the site. That's it.
