PAMPER YOUR SWEETHEART WITH DELICIOUS DESSERTS FROM DBK ASIAN BAKERY
Kou See Vang grew up baking for her friends and family. As the oldest of seven children, and a mother herself, baking for others is her love language. That’s why she left her career as an educator last year to open Desserts by Kou See, an Asian bakery in Broken Arrow.
She says, “My husband Chris and I wanted to share a piece of our culture and our love of Asian desserts with the community.”
There is no need to feel guilty about indulging in DBK Bakery’s treats. The cakes are made with a third of the amount of sugar which gives the confections a light, fluffy texture. She uses fresh fruits such as kiwi, mango, melon, and berries, as well as beautiful edible flowers and fragrant herbs to adorn her desserts.
For Valentine’s Day, Kou See and Chris have created a decadent selection of heart-themed desserts, such as cookie fruit tarts, chocolate-covered strawberries, and heart-shaped macarons. The Asian sponge cupcakes, beautifully layered crepe cakes, and ganache-filled cream puffs are customer favorites, along with Korean Bbang, which looks like the prettiest taco you will ever eat.

Kou See is a talented cake baker with flavors such as lemon curd, red velvet, chocolate, strawberry, coconut, ube (purple sweet potato) and pandan, a tropical flavor from Asia that has a coconut honey tea flavor.?Her showstopper is a Japanese cotton cheesecake that looks simple but takes years to master and four hours to make!
But the dessert that is closest to her heart is a wedding cake. She made her first wedding cake for her sister in 2008. Since then, she has created hundreds of wedding cakes that are devoured at every ceremony.
She says, “My wedding cakes are light and fluffy and bursting with flavor. I always tell my brides to order extra because their guests will be going back for seconds!”
