The Starlight team is proud to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of our CEO & pilot of the Starlight Rocketship…. Louise Baxter . Starlight would not be the organisation it is today without her incredible leadership.
Louise has lead Starlight through some of the most challenging times. Her positive impact has seen Starlight grow from strength to strength.
Under Louise’s direction, Starlight is embedded in the Australian healthcare system as an essential service, now in every Children’s Hospital in Australia, & known as Australia’s number one & most trusted Children’s Charity.
As Louise says, 20 years flies by when you love what you do. When you have such clarity of & connection to Purpose & you know you’re brightening the lives of sick kids & their families. This is what makes Louise ‘bounce out of bed’ every day.
Louise is known for her ‘Zest’. It is one of her unmistakable character strengths. People draw passion, zest, energy, enthusiasm & positivity from every interaction with Louise. She is a true shining star & was integral in the introduction of our single value… which is to ‘SHINE’. She is the driving force behind Starlight’s innovation culture. We were the first organisation outside of the education sector to embed positive psychology throughout our organisation.

Under Louise’s leadership Starlight branched into community with the Starlight Healthier Futures Initiative which now reaches children in over 140 remote indigenous communities across Australia.
Reconciliation is embedded into our organisation. Starlight is one of the few organisations in Australia with a Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is a particular passion point for Louise. She made it her mission to make Starlight one of the Best Places to Work & a place where everyone can be their best self. ?
She is a champion for our Safeguarding Children & Young People Accreditation & ensuring the children & families we support are at the centre of every single decision.
Louise is pivotal in aligning & engaging teams to our vision, our mission & our values. Always listening, caring & leading from the front. All the while, encouraging & supporting others to step up & lead. She is the face of Starlight, which takes tremendous courage, strength & energy. Energy which we all draw from. And she always does this with a sense of fun! ?
