Louis’ School Days – Week 1

I have recently started collaborating with Ian Browne , Grainne Longman CMgr FCMI and Vicky Sparey to encourage young people to become aware and consider data and technology roles. These skills are key to the success of LBG’s future strategy and more widely for UK PLC’s success. Another of our priorities is to dispel the view that banking is all about counting money. I certainly didn’t know any better at school!????

?

Starting this work has got me reflecting back on my school days and inspired another series which I hope you will all find interesting. To set the scene I was solely educated in a Mainstream School and owe so much to my teaching assistants, parents and teachers who enabled me to have the best possible start in life. As you will find out over the coming weeks, I’d not be doing what I am today without any of them.

?

Few are on Linkedin and not those who most deserve a call out, but I’m going to name them anyway – Theresa Maunder, from Cornwall Council, and Frankie Miles and Theo Sweet, my main 2 teaching assistants in Secondary Education. Both had a real influence on me generally, encouraging my interests and instilling my love for classic British comedy.

?

Don’t worry, this series isn’t going to be pure adulation and hyperbole. I will explore various aspects of my education and reflect how some changes could have enhanced in preparing me for life, even if I wouldn’t have liked it at the time!

?

I hope you enjoy

Louis I really enjoy reading your articles you are such an inspiration to many people. There are many career paths in LBG which require lots of different skills and early education plays a key part in this.
