Louis DeJoy's Vision for the Future of the U.S. Postal Service Unveiled at the Nov. 14 Board of Governors Meeting
Louis DeJoy, the Postmaster General and CEO of the U.S. Postal Service, outlined a transformative journey for the USPS under the banner of Delivering for America, with further innovations slated for the upcoming year.
Speaking at the USPS Board of Governors meeting on November 14, DeJoy delineated the anticipated milestones for 2024. Despite acknowledging potential disruptions in the process, he expressed unwavering confidence in his team's capacity to effectively navigate and adapt to challenges.
“The coming year will be one of continuous implementation of our changes. We expect to end 2024 with the completion of over 20 modernized processing facilities, the closing of over 40 costly annexes and contracted facilities, the opening of close to 100 commercially impactful Sorting and Delivery Centers, the deployment of approximately 30,000 new carrier vehicles, the reduction of another 28 million work hours, the elimination of close to $1 billion of transportation costs and the growth of our package business by over $1 billion,” said DeJoy.
As the 75th Postmaster General and CEO of the United States Postal Service, DeJoy assumed office in June 2020, appointed by the organization's Board of Governors. His responsibilities extend beyond his role as Postmaster General, encompassing membership in the Board of Governors.
