Lou Limmer, Philadelphia A's History
The Baseball Almanac Player of the Day:
Today, we selected Lou Limmer as our baseball player of the day. Born on March 10, 1935, this date in baseball history, he appeared in only 209 games with the Philadelphia Athletics, but made some unique history in a few of them:
He hit the last home run by a PHILADELPHIA Athletics player (they relocated the following season to Kansas City, before moving to Oakland in 1968). Our online baseball card has that, a story about him breaking his neck sliding into third base, and some pinch hitting history.

8 年Very cool! I am obsessed with any history and pretty much everything related to the Athletics franchise! I grew up just outside of Oakland but find their history from Shibe Park in Philly to Campy playing all 9 positions in one game in KC to the three WS they won in Oakland before I was born and all the historical moments Ive witnessed since (89 - the sweep & earthquake, 2002 20-gm win StreAk, MLB's 19th PG, gm 162 in 2012 and so much more!) Sorry, I get a little over excited talking about baseball and even moreso when it involves the Athletics! Cool post! Thanks again!
