Lotus days and a meaningful life

Lotus days and a meaningful life

Lotus days?

Diving into the darkness of the evening, re-emerging in the morning, fresh, with new energies. Is this something appealing to you, to us?

This is what the lotus flower does every day. Every day.

It's India's national flower and is symbolic in Buddhism and Hinduism for wealth, longevity, beauty, prosperity, purity and fertility.

What is so unique about lotus, besides it's pure beauty?

To start, the lotus?has a life cycle unlike any other plant. With its roots latched in mud, it submerges every night into river water and miraculously re-blooms the next morning, sparklingly clean. In many cultures, this process associates the flower with rebirth and spiritual enlightenment.

?It is considered a sacred symbol because?it depicts the ways of life.

Additionally, its stems, seeds, leaves, and flowers have long been used in traditional medicine preparations.

Is there anything we could learn from the lotus? Perhaps something about cycles. Short and long term as well. And about patience? About utilising every hour as a unique gift of life that is never to be found again, once it has been wasted?

We can expect a lotus plant to blossom throughout the summer and for the lotus flowers to live for three days. The first day, the flower will fully bloom in the morning or early afternoon. The second day, it will start to wither and loose petals. The third day, the dropped petals will reveal the seed head.

One day to shine!! Only one day!

Imagine how our life could change if we could treat at least some days, not all days, just some days, as if they were lotus flowers. And if, like the plant, we could re-emerge every day, even after a hard, tormenting bad yesterday, with renewed energy, purity and willpower? Could we pick some days in our life to be “lotus days”?

Days that we could enjoy, live, exhaust to the fullest, from morning to dusk?

What if we could live everyday of our life like that, guided by purpose, meaning, beauty, giving and love? What if more of us, most of us, or possibly all of us would be able to live like that? What a wonderful world that could be?
