lot of Iot
If 1990s was the decade of Internet of Technologies then 2010s will likely be known as the decade of IoT (Internet of Things). If you notice, IoT companies are booming and mushrooming up in every lawn.
Zuora - a subscription billing company is attempting to provide IoT service on a subscriptions. Really! Their tall claim (see the quote) below cracks me up like never before.
How do you innovate faster than the IoT market? Don’t worry. With Zuora, you’ll nail it.
On the other hand, there are several consulting companies who claim to have mastered the IoT (already?) and now are providing training to others. Looks like they could mass-produce IoT engineers. Seriously!?
All in all, almost every company wants to be categorized as IoT and every technology geek is looking to put IoT on their resume. Most of them are trying to ride a wave that may eventually deliver them ashore (mostly crashing). Likewise, Data Scientist are in big demand and are getting paid astronomically because of the supply shortage. Are they really effective? Do they individually deliver IoT for you?
Fortunately, there are a few companies, like Falkonry, who are serious about Internet of Things and work on real data generated by devices as well as in-field sensors. Falkonry's Prediction-as-a-Service is capable of taking any time-series data and predicting machine failures weeks before it actually happens. In fact, they may also be able to work with ECG and other medical time-series data to predict a heart condition. Try it for yourself.
Look forward to hearing about your IoT experiences.
