There is a lot happening in the wearable tech sector in 2023

Wearable tech used to mean smartwatches and fitness trackers to most people, but with the addition of new capabilities and products — from glasses to headsets to clothing — this segment of the market may soon take its place alongside the smartphone as an everyday item. In fact, GlobalData projects that the wearable technology market will increase from its value of US $59bn in 2020 to a massive $156bn by 2024.

One annoying downside to ‘wearables’ has always been the charging time, but 2023 will start to see the integration of renewable energy sources – including solar charging, body heat and motion. Soon, users won’t need to plug in their devices at night because they will have charged during the day. ?

But it is the holistic health aspect of wearables that will be in focus for 2023. ?

Take for example the Kenneth Cole Wellness Watch. This stylish piece gives wearers effortless access to information that supports their health and wellbeing. Features include sport modes for recording the length and distance of your daily run or exercise. Wearers can also track calories burned and ensure they stay active with a custom time interval sedentary reminder. You can even track and record time spent sleeping to ensure healthy habits and a good night’s rest. Kenneth Cole New York, at the recently held International Distributor Meet 2023, previewed the latest Wellness Watch Generation 2.0. Bolder in design and pumped up with wellness-focused features, the next-gen watch is designed specifically to match your potential and fit your routine.

Another advanced integration this year will be biometric sensors embedded in wearable devices such as smartwatches or fitness trackers to collect data on various physiological metrics such as heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen levels.

Some wearable devices are even starting to incorporate technology that can detect early signs of illness. For example, a smartwatch might be able to detect a fever or a change in heart rate that could be an indication of an impending medical problem. By detecting these signs early, people can take steps to prevent the illness from becoming more serious.

Another exciting aspect of wearable tech is the way it can integrate with other devices and platforms. For example, a smartwatch might be able to connect to your phone to receive notifications, or it might be able to control your home’s smart appliances. As wearables become more sophisticated, this year will see even more integration with other devices and platforms.?

Wearables are certainly going to get more futuristic in their capabilities – it won’t be long augmented reality plays a role. This involves the overlay of digital content on top of the physical world and can be used to create several exciting new applications for wearable devices, such as enhancing your workout with real-time feedback on your performance and helping you find and purchase new items in stores.

We will probably continue to see people wearing traditional luxury watches even with all the new tech.
