NOT LOST WEIGHT THIS WEEK???

STRAIGHT TALKING MONDAYS

As always I'm going to give you the no bullshit reason that most people aren't losing weight....

It must be your genes?

It must be your body type?

It must be your metabolism?

It must be your thyroid?

You must need a cleanse

You must need slimming world?

It must be your coaches fault?

You must be destined to be fat?

NOPE - for most of the general population this is absolutely passing the buck...

Like most of the clients I come across, and the most common hurdle to weight loss across the industry it usually comes down to the following:

# clients under reporting and not being honest with themselves (or their coaches)

# clients wanting instant gratification and giving up before they see results, because it didn't happen in week 1!!

So if you are sitting at your desk this morning beating yourself up because you put on weight this week then before you throw in the towel please consider these questions:

1. Have you recorded your calories every day and hit your targets? (Do you even know what your calorie intake should be?)

2. Have you consumed a good mix of nutritious food within these calories?

3. Have you exercised a minimum of 3-4 times at a higher intensity than last week?

4. Has your daily activity been high, did you manage your 10,000 steps every day?

5. Have you binged at the weekend on junk food, alcohol etc? (because this is the quickest way to ruin a calorie deficit and put on weight)

6. Have you drank enough water?

7. Ladies, is it the time of the month, therefore can you expect to see progress this week? realistically? (Maybe you need to stay consistent and wait it out?)

8. Are you stressed and has this effected all of the above resulting in less calorie expenditure and comfort eating?

9. Have you measured accurately, I.e taken your weight first thing in the morning, got someone to take measurements accurately, taken progress photos in similar lighting? (Are you even measuring progress?)

10. Are you being unrealistic about how quickly you should change? 1-2lbs of fat loss per week is the maximum you can expect and this will not be weekly in a linear fashion but instead when the body decides it wants too play catch up. (Months and years of bad habits cannot be reversed in weeks!!!)

For the general population there is always a logical reason that you lose weight or gain weight so don't panic, don't get emotional, don't give up, don't blame your coach.

Take a look in the mirror, take responsibility, be honest with yourself and take the answers from the questions above and move forward logically.
