“The grief of losing a pearl is worse than the joy of finding it”.
One cannot even imagine the sorrow that every Indian is feeling right now, who had just lost their two magnificent and precious pearls back to back. Amidst of the global contingency, where the “God knows who” ushered the virus of Corona is taking so many Lives. Two veteran Artists from the Indian Film Industry had taken an Adieu from the world, Irfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor.
Both had left their families into a never ending mourn. The vacuum that had been created by their absence cannot be filled up by anyone. They were the performers, who never had to speak their dialogues to deliver, rather the charm and smile of one and the eyes of another used to do their job. The versatility, experimentation and the improvisation of the acts which they had played was not that racetrack, at which every Tom, Dick & Harry could run.
Though the commencement of the expedition of both the veterans were absolutely contradictory to each other and even their journeys were comparatively different, but both were considered as the Knight in their own arenas.
Rishi Kapoor was born in a family that had spearheaded the Hindi Film Industry and he was borne in the third generation of that dynasty. That doesn’t mean, he was born with a silver spoon when it comes to acting. Even in today’s Film Industry, many Star kids come and go without even marking their presence. So, at that time, when the actors were limited, the burden that they had to face was immense. Among that pressure, he had started his own journey and gave appearances in movies as a child artist like MERA NAAM JOKER. But, his first movie, “Bobby”, had changed the trend of the Indian Film industry and the boy had started an “era of Charming Personalities”, who can take the romance up to another level of Passion, of which Hindi Film Industry was untouched. His acting acumen had never confined him to do the similar kind of roles, but had played multifaceted roles like Ethics embedded Son of a rich businessman in DAMINI, a positive and a negative nuance in BOL RADHA BOL, A devastated lover in LAILA MAJNU, A middle class burdened man under his responsibility in Do Dooni Chaar, an underworld Mafia in D day and Agneepath, an old aged man in Kapoor and Sons and 102 Not out etc. The National award winner Actor was never too shy to share his thoughts and was famous for his candid and outspoken trait on every platform, whether a direct confrontation to media or when it comes to the present era Colosseum of Twitter. In all the arenas, he was an undisputed Gladiator.
On the other hand, Irrfan Khan was born in Rajasthan, in a Humble background family, who like every Other Indian Child wants to pursue his career in playing cricket for his Country. But, due to the substandard condition of the family, he was not able to afford the travel expenses for the place where his Cricket trials were to take place. But, destiny had bigger plans for this boy, who after completed his Masters in Arts had got an opportunity in the nation’s most prestigious Acting School, “National School of Drama”. He had achieved his both life’s love in this Academy, his Wife and the love for his Acting. Started with a minute role in the Mira Nair’s Salaam Bombay, there was no turning back for this boy. The kind of diverse role he played like a Negative shade in Chandrakanta, Lover of an Underworld Don’s wife in Maqbool, a flattered lover in Rog, an underworld Don in AAN, Fearful negative role in Haasil, a confused regular boy in “Life in a Metro”, an Athlete turned Bandit in PAAN SINGH Tomar, a loving father in HINDI Medium & ENGLISH Mediums etc. He had catered his Hollywood presence in movies like Namesake, Jurassic park, Slumdog Millionaire. He also had several awards including the National Award in his trophy shelf, but he was also known as an actor, who had made his own distinct league. A fighter, who fought his battle with his impoverishment, fought to mark his presence in an industry which is infamous for his non-acceptance of the outsiders and his final battle with the death, which he had surrendered. He was a fighter for whom, winning never matters but what mattered to him was to give a tough fight and snatched victory for his shelf.
Both the Actors had an unparalleled presence, not just in their Karmabhoomi but also in their Janambhoomi, for which both had taken their stands in their own way. Their deaths within the gap of one day, had disseminated unity and solidarity in our country, which is witnessing the major events of communal clashes. People who were praying for their good health had never checked their religion and the people who had mourned for them after their deaths did not checked the colors they believed in. They just prayed for them neutrally, while knowing the facts that one would be buried under the ground and other would be cremated. Both had paid their debt to the nation and would get themselves blend in the pious soil of India, irrespective of their religion. The communal harmony, which the deaths of the veteran had created should not get turned into an illusion, and should be maintained till eternity.
If the concept of reincarnation really exist, which I wish today that it does, then we haven’t lost 2 great actors, but 2 legends has born somewhere in the world and till the time they Show UP on the silver screen, THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!!!
