The lost art of swatting a fly

As a kid, it was a routine for me to spend my time at my village during the long school vacations.

The time being 90s, there wasn't much to be missed, except for friends. Don't get me wrong, I loved each and every day I spent there and didn't miss the town and city much. Why?

  1. It's not every day a city kid gets to play with the cows and the steers; those scary yet gentle giants.
  2. Watching the peacocks dance.
  3. Fishing, in hopes of cooking something exciting for the dinner.
  4. Drawing water from the well for the bath or just to drink.
  5. Encountering and tackling dangerous beings like snakes & scorpions pretty often.
  6. Finding my favorite radio wave for songs or talks.
  7. Rummaging through my grandpa's small library filled with books written in half Hindi and half Sanskrit. Hoping to find some magic spell.
  8. Finding ways to kill the flies, efficiently. If you noticed that flies are faster than mosquitoes.

Yes, that last thing on the list has been the most important one for me; Why? Cause I showed one of my perfected trick to swat a fly to my son with 100% accuracy and he said - Awesome!

If you want to learn it too, get in touch with me :o)

But what's that one skill that you learnt as a kid and that's still in use?

That is such an important question. In this day of upskilling & acquiring new skills we should not forget to harp on our existing knowledge/skills. I think for me it is the power of perseverance & resilience that keeps me going even now!
