Loss of Red Diesel Rebate turns spotlight onto fuel use

The loss of the red diesel rebate for non-road machinery in 2022 was a financial blow for industrial users. However, it has forced a sharper focus on fuel use.

?

Checking today with our fuel supplier, white diesel is currently coming in at a hefty 129p per litre as opposed to red diesel which is currently just 75p per litre, due to a vast difference in fuel duty. Fuel prices look set to remain stubbornly high for the foreseeable future so any savings in fuel use can significantly help the bottom line and the environment.

?

Cost Saving

Our 50 Series Diesel Vacuum Machine uses between 10-12 litres per hour as opposed to larger lorry-mounted vacuum machines which can be using 30-40 litres per hour. This can save £100’s in fuel costs alone over just one 8-hour shift.

?

Environmental Savings

The government’s aim of fuel duty changes was to incentivise business diesel users to invest in cleaner alternatives as a step towards the ambitious 2050 net-zero carbon target. Here at GWS we have been investing heavily in the latest technology, with now over half of our hire fleet of Diesel-Powered vacuum machines fitted with the latest low emission, low fuel use engines.

?

We’re proud to help our clients deliver cost savings but also environmental savings, as we all join together to take steps towards net-zero.
