The Loss Encounters: An Inspiring New Podcast
I’m going to take a moment to brag here.
My fabulous wife, journalist Melissa Ceria, has launched a fascinating new podcast called? The Loss Encounters. It explores the link between creativity and loss. The question is: What do we make from what is vanishing or gone? And how does it shape the course of our lives?
Each week, Melissa interviews a changemaker who, with creativity, has made something from a loss they have experienced. The stories are gripping and inspiring. Her goal is to help break the silence around loss in our culture.
I loved her conversations with?Brad Rouse?about working with federal defendants following his incarceration and?Lee Woodruff?about caregiving and living through changes in a relationship. She also delves into the acclaimed soundscapes of sound ecologist Bernie Krause, who is capturing disappearing bird sounds.
This week’s powerful interview is with the author and director?Colin Campbell, who discusses the importance of speaking about our grief and the crucial role of community in the face of unbearable loss. Colin and his wife, Gail, tragically lost their two children, Ruby and Hart, when a drunk crashed into their car. Several friends have told me they’ve replayed that episode several times.
Melissa’s constant curiosity, deep interviewing style, and empathetic approach make this series captivating. Please have a listen and let her know your thoughts!?
p.s. Leave feedback, share it, and rank it if you like it ... I'm sure you will.
