It's a common reality that people often want you to be better, but not better at them. This mindset, typically held by individuals who are stuck in their insecurities, lack of ambition, and failure to reach their full potential, can be incredibly damaging to those on the receiving end. It's the opinion of a single disheartened individual that can sometimes prevent others from achieving their goals.
The ancient Roman emperor, Marcus Aurelius, wrote this in his book Meditations, saying, “It never ceases to amaze me, we all love ourselves more than other people, but care more about their opinion than our own.” This was written years before, yet it is more evident today.
The main problem is that the opinions of others can restrict you from realizing your full potential. In some cases, negative feedback can be so powerful that it robs individuals of their ambition and full potential.
But, the question remains, why should you solve this problem? The answer is simple. By overcoming this barrier, you can engage in the activities you truly enjoy without being hindered by others' opinions. It's about discovering your potential and not letting the negative voices of others dictate the path of your life.

Naturally, overcoming this obstacle is not easy. We are social creatures, and the fear of failure or negative judgment can be paralyzing. However, it is crucial to remember that these self-doubts are often just echoes of other people's insecurities. Also, sometimes it is just our egos that is limiting us from breaking from other people's thoughts and opinions.
I experienced this firsthand when I first started exploring the world of cryptocurrency. Many people told me that it was a scam and that I was wasting my time. Yet, when I began to see success, those same individuals suddenly changed their attitude towards me. Heck, even the people that I don't talk to are suddenly appearing out of nowhere.
The key to overcoming this problem is to focus on yourself and your goals. Before you start something new, ensure that you are doing it for yourself, not for the validation of others. Avoid sharing your plans prematurely, because negativity can often creep in before you've had a chance to fully realize your vision. As “Dan Koe” said, If you don't create a purpose, society will give you one.
Always try to zoom out and look at the bigger picture. Remember that the opinions of others are just noise and, ultimately, do not matter. A concept that can be helpful in maintaining this perspective is 'Memento Mori' — a reminder of our mortality, that at the end we will all die. Hormozi said this, “Friendly reminder that in three generations everyone who knew us will be dead. Including the people whose opinions stopped you from doing what you wanted all along”.
Finally, ask yourself, “What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?” By removing the fear of failure from the equation, you can begin to explore your true potential. So, don't listen to the losers — start winning for yourself.
