The Losers have something to say...
John Viviano DDS D,ABDSM

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) recently sponsored a contest looking for fresh ideas to help enhance patient care in Sleep Medicine.?Approximately 25 TEAMS from around the globe worked very hard to present various innovative concepts, and 2 lucky winners were acknowledged with both a prize, and by posting their video and presentation online. Five other TEAMs were acknowledged and their videos were also made available online for all to view, but what came of the remaining TEAMs?
... the losers?
... hmmm?
I guess the AASM felt there is already too much content on the web. Could it be that the ideas these TEAMS submitted were not worthy of any discussion whatsoever?
This post is not about the winners, their ideas are easily accessed on the AASM website; it’s more about the losers... all of which worked very hard to share their unique ideas, and as such, these ideas are also worthy of review and discussion. Problem is, no one will ever see their presentations, so these critical discussions may never take place! We are definitely forgoing an opportunity to share ideas here!
Our TEAM decided to do something about this issue! As proud losers in this contest, we’re not saying that our submission is the answer... or even should have placed, but one needs to wonder why an overburdened medical field is so quick to dismiss without any acknowledgement whatsoever, a willing and competent army of clinicians that present ready to participate in easing their burden... It’s time Dentistry is invited to the table. Both our video and submission demonstrate how this would benefit all parties, most of all patients!
