Lo's Joyful Career Journey ??

About Lo

Two years ago, Lo reached out to me, eager to accelerate their career journey. With a keen intellect, relentless work ethic, and a fervent passion for social justice, they sought my help in untangling their past experiences, refining their professional narrative, and reclaiming the power to shape their future. From our first meeting, I had no doubt about Lo's potential to succeed, especially given their readiness for a fresh start. It was no surprise when, shortly after our work together, they secured a role they truly loved.

What have you been up to since we last worked together?

Since being coached by Marcia, I accepted a role as Philanthropy Manager for San Diego Pride. I feel privileged to work for an organization dedicated to inclusivity and representing the full diversity of our LGBTQ+ community. Our belief that art is advocacy guides our work in building coalitions, empowering grassroots organizing on intersectional social justice issues, and supporting LGBTQ+ movements locally, nationally, and globally.

As a nonprofit fundraiser, I feel it is such a boon to be constantly inspired by my co-workers, our partners in social justice, and the incredible donors, volunteers, and community members I meet everyday. It fills my heart with gratitude to not only be able to see the impact of this work, but to be able to feel it as well.?

How did our work together help you?

I worked with Marcia during a time when I felt dejected and unsure after years of feeling isolated and without direction in my career. Seeing that several people I admired in the nonprofit field were her past clients gave me the confidence to reach out. Marcia's encouragement, guidance, and advice helped me acknowledge and leverage the skills, passion, and insight I had within myself but didn't yet have the confidence to utilize. Her support truly transformed my life and career for the better—I couldn't be more grateful for investing in myself by working with Marcia

What is your best piece of career advice?

Before meeting Marcia, I doubted myself so much that I considered giving up my entire career. However, whenever I checked in with my intuition, I felt that I had more to offer in my nonprofit career and a need to invest in myself. Embracing the belief that there is always possibility ahead and plenty of opportunity—my motto is "more is more"—has been transformative.

My best piece of career advice is to trust your intuition and believe in abundance.

I am proud of myself for continuing to push forward and finding a space where I truly belong. Trusting my gut has empowered me to make career choices with confidence and allows me to truly believe in my future with both my head and my heart.
