Earlier this month Greater Los Angeles Education Foundation (GLAEF) hosted the inaugural Los Angeles County Philanthropy Summit for Public Education: Uniting for Student Success. The event featured Dr. Debra Duardo, Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools, and insightful contributions from educators and administrators instrumental in shaping the event and informing innovative outcomes for student success.
The summit aimed to achieve several key objectives:
Deepening Philanthropic Impact: Attendees gained insights into innovative philanthropic strategies tailored specifically for enhancing K-12 public schools in Los Angeles County. Diverse speakers with backgrounds and experiences in philanthropy brought a wealth of perspectives to the forefront, enriching discussions, and inspiring action.

We are pleased to have facilitated this gathering, bringing together districts and education foundations to exchange ideas and initiate discussions about our collective strength and the significance of philanthropy in education.
Following the summit, we aim to support the establishment of partnerships between philanthropic organizations and districts to implement innovative strategies; foster a supportive network among education foundation professionals for continuous collaboration and knowledge exchange; and sustain relationships forged during the summit through subsequent meetings, joint projects, or participation in upcoming events.
GLAEF’s impact reaches far and wide across the County of Los Angeles, working with school districts and other local education agencies (LEAs) to transform public education and meet the needs of students.
